
Google Analytics: How to Access Website Traffic and Stats and Set Up Automatic Updates
Once you have Google Analytics setup and linked to your website (Speak to Simon about this), it will start collecting website traffic data.
Google analytics then allows you to access those website statistics, including traffic, search queries, location, device type, user behavior, and more.
You can also set up email reports to receive automatic updates on your website traffic and characteristics.
How to Access Google Analytics Stats:
- Log into Google Analytics:
- Go to Google Analytics and if you are not already signed into google, sign in with the Google / Gmail account added to the Analytics account.
- Navigate to the Website Property:
- Select the website property you want to view from your list of websites.
- View Key Metrics:
- From the left sidebar, you can explore reports like:
- Audience: Overview of website visitors.
- Acquisition: How visitors are finding your website.
- Behavior: How users are interacting with your website.
- Conversions: Track specific actions, like form submissions.

You can customise reports for things such as the time period and what type of format of information you want to see.... as well of the report name, email recipients and frequency you receive it.
Setting Up Google Analytics to Send Automatic Updates:
- Create an Email Report:
- In Google Analytics, after logging in, select the report you want to share (e.g., Audience Overview).
- Customise the report if you wish to do so (time period, remove cards/info you don't need to see)
- Click on the Share button in the top-right corner of the report.
- Select Email, then configure the settings (e.g., recipient, frequency, format).
- Set Report Frequency:
- Choose how often you want the reports to be sent (Daily, Weekly, Monthly).
- Set the email format to PDF or Excel/CSV.
- Click Send once the setup is complete.
Google Search Console: How to Access Stats and Enable Notifications
Google Search Console helps track the performance of your website in search results. While it doesn’t send automatic performance updates, you can enable email notifications for critical issues.
How to Access Google Search Console Stats:
- Log into Google Search Console:
- Go to Google Search Console and sign in with the Gmail account added to the Search Console account.
- Navigate to the Website Property:
- After logging in, select the website you want to analyze.
- View Key Metrics:
- The main metrics are visible in the Overview tab, including:
- Performance: Impressions, clicks, and average search position.
- Coverage: Indexing status and errors.
- Sitemaps: Status of your submitted sitemaps.
- Enhancements: Mobile usability and other metrics.

Setting Up Email Notifications for Google Search Console:
- Enable Email Alerts:
- Go to Settings in Google Search Console.
- In the Preferences section, check the box for “Subscribe to News and Updates” to receive important updates about your website’s performance.
- You can also enable alerts for critical issues (like crawl errors, manual actions, etc.).
Google Business Profile (Formerly Google My Business): How to Get Insights and Set Up Notifications
Google Business Profile provides performance insights into how customers are interacting with your business profile on Google Search and Maps. You can view these and set up email notifications / reports.
How to Access Insights in Google Business Profile:
- Log into the Google account (at https://business.google.com or www.gmail.com or www.google.com) that created / is the owner of your Google Business Profile:
- Once logged in, from www.google.com visit your Google Business Profile
- Or from https://business.google.com/locations click "See Your profile'
- Once logged in, from www.google.com visit your Google Business Profile
- Click the Performance icon:
- You can see key metrics such as:
- Search Queries: Terms customers used to find your business.
- Customer Actions: Calls, direction requests, or website visits.

How to Enable Email Notifications for Business Profile performance insights:
- To Enable Email Notifications:
- Goto https://business.google.com/locations
- Click Settings, scroll down.
- Check the box for “Insights” to receive regular email updates about your business profile.
- There are many other notifications you can turn off/on.
- Click Save to apply your notification settings.
